The orchid’s graceful flower shapes and soft, elegant colors give a serene beauty. Its delicate form and rich hues,
resembling butterflies dancing in the air, have long been cherished and admired. Known as the "Queen of Orchids," it captivates hearts endlessly.
In 1947, at an international flower exhibition, the butterfly orchid native to Hongtouyu (now renamed Lanyu) stood out as the champion among countless blooms,
leading to the island’s renaming as "Orchid Island."
In both 1952 and 1953, Taiwan’s butterfly orchids won consecutive championships at the international flower shows held in California, USA.
In 1956, at the 3rd International Flower Exhibition in Nantes, France, Taiwan’s butterfly orchid received the Gold Medal, cementing its fame both at home and abroad.
